In 2019 we launched Alton Towers, a Residency Book which records the results of a weekend residency at one of the UK’s oldest and weirdest theme parks.
For anyone who couldn’t make the launch in Stoke-on-Trent, we’ve put together some video clips of the readings.
Here’s Eloise Shepherd reading “Oblivion” by Alison Powell…
And Gaynor Jones reading her own story, “There’s a Merman Living Under the Log Flume at Alton Towers”…
If you want to know how either of those stories end, you can find out by ordering a copy of the Residency Book. It’s a limited edition, available only in print, and comes with a little cache of Alton Towers ephemera. Here’s where to place your order.
Here’s an extract of Claire Fuller’s story “Sealife”, read by Julia Deakin.
And an extract of Eloise CC Shepherd’s short story “I Don’t Need to Wait in Long Lines Anymore”.
